Drunen
Van de naam alleen word je alleen al vrolijk toch? Sinds deze week zijn Vasili en Joanna te vinden met hun Griekse foodtruck in Drunen. En niet alleen van de naam word je happy. Ook van al het lekkers wat hun foodtruck te bieden heeft. Ik mocht al hun heerlijke pita gyros uitproberen. Het was even thuiskomen. Hun sandwich smaakte als thuis in Thessaloniki. En tja… daarna probeerde ik de pita souvlaki uit. Wederom heerlijk. En aangezien Joanna en Vasili uit Thessaloniki komen, noemen ze het souvlaki. Geen kalamaki. Joanna en Vasili wonen sinds december 2016 in Nederland. Ze lopen al een tijd met het idee om iets voor zichzelf te beginnen. Deze week werd hun droom werkelijkheid. Een eigen foodtruck met Griekse heerlijkheden. Een mobiel restaurant waarmee ze mensen blij kunnen maken met hun eten. Vandaar de naam Happy Grieks.
Drunen
Happy Grieks is te vinden op de parkeerplaats van de Jumbo in Drunen. Het adres is Aalbersestraat 5. Heel makkelijk te vinden en makkelijk te parkeren.
Op hun menu vind je verschillende broodjes pita. Naast de traditionele gyros heb je ook andere keuzes. Wat dacht je bijvoorbeeld van een pita souvlaki of een pita kippendijen. Net zoals in Thessaloniki kun je naast tzatziki ook kiezen voor tirokafteri of kopanisti. Een lekkere feta-saus. Mijn favo broodje is pita gyros met tirokafteri.
Hun pitabroodjes worden gemaakt zoals in Thessaloniki. Pita-brood met vlees, frietjes, tomaat en ui. Uiteraard kun je er ook voor kiezen om een van ingrediënten weg te laten. Maar koolsalade in je pitabroodje is niet gebruikelijk in Griekenland. Iets wat je wel in veel zaakjes in Nederland ziet. Ook kun je er vegetarische pitabroodjes krijgen.
Naast de pitabroodjes kun je er ook een wisselende dagschotel krijgen. Zo stond er donderdag pastitio en stifado op het menu. Vandaag kun je er gemista krijgen. Gevulde paprika.
Openingstijden Happy Grieks
Happy Grieks is geopend op dinsdag tot en met zaterdag.
- Op dinsdag tot en met donderdag kun je bestellen tussen 14.00 en 20.00 uur.
- Op vrijdag en zaterdag openen ze al om 11.00 uur.
